Welcome to Kirk Club!

Sunday Afternoons

Kirk Club (Kirk is a common Presbyterian word, coming from Scottish roots, meaning "Church") is a group for 3rd-5th graders at the church. It meets in the Fellowship House once a month (usually the first Sunday) for an hour after church, 11:15-12:30. Kirk Club will consist of community building and faith formation -- after all, we have to play together before we can pray together. We'll snack, play games, do activities, and have meaningful conversations about faith. See the schedule below:

  • January 7th: Kirk Club Sunday Rehearsal

  • January 28th: Kirk Club Sunday

  • February 4th: The Art of Faith (Faith)

  • Feb. 18th - Mar. 10th: Lenten Small Groups

  • April 7th: The Art of Faith (Hope)

  • May 5th: The Art of Faith (Love)

  • June 1st-2nd: Spring Lock In!

January 28, 2024

Kirk Club will lead worship on this Sunday! They will serve as liturgists and even write prayers and pick the music. They will wear their tie-dye Kirk Club t-shirts and there will be a full rehearsal during normally-scheduled Kirk Club on 1/7. There will be refreshments for kids and their families to celebrate after worship in the Fellowship House!

Lenten Small Groups

lenten small group

2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10

ORPC will engage in a limited-time four week small group ministry over the first four Sundays of Lent! For four Sundays in Lent (2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10), small groups will gather around the church campus for an hour after worship (11:15am-12:15pm). Each small group has an awesome topical theme based around deepening faith and ways to engage in scripture, so you can find a way to connect no matter your interests! PreK-2nd Graders’ small group will learn about the words to the Lord’s Prayer. They will spend some time combined with the Kirk Club (3rd-5th grade) small group but breakout on their own for other parts! Sign up is coming soon

Barn Dance for All

April 14, 2024

Montreat is a famous Presbyterian gathering spot located in the mountains of North Carolina. One of the things they are most famous for? Their barn dances. Beth Gunn is the Presby-famous leader of Montreat’s barn dances and she is coming to ORPC! All ages (kids, youth, and adults) are invited for a night of laughter, movement, and fun! Beth will call Big Circle Mountain Dances with folk music to boot!

Spring Lock-In

June 1-2, 2024

Our spring Kirk Club retreat will be a lock in at the church centered around the theme for PassportKIDS camp. This is a great way to get your kid excited about camp if they are going OR give them a taste of the experience if they can’t make it this summer! There will be Bible study, recreation, art, food, and more! If your Kirk Clubber isn’t ready for overnight, they can also do a “late-in” and be picked up before bed. Registration opens soon!

PassportKIDS Montreat 2024

June 30th - July 3rd, 2024

PassportKIDS is a second-year conference ORPC will be attending for children and youth who have completed 3rd through 6th grade but our first time at their Montreat location (this is awesome because our high school youth go back to Montreat every summer for their summer conference, too!). PassportKIDS includes worship geared towards children, interactive Bible study, and LOTS of awesome camp activities. Our church stays in a hotel with a nice dining hall. The theme will be announced soon, but you can start registration here.

July 11th-14th, 2024

Massanetta Middle School Conference is a hands-on, faith filled experience in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Completed fifth graders from Kirk Club will be eligible to join other middle schoolers from ORPC’s youth group and from across the country gather to participate in keynote, recreation, music, and small “Encounter Groups” led by an outstanding group of high school and adult leaders. The theme this year will be released in September, but you can start registration here.
