A Selah Space – A New Small Group
Thursdays 7- 8:30
Fellowship House
Beginning September 3
A new small group will start in September called A Selah Space. You may be familiar with the ancient Hebrew word Selah, it means to pause, reflect- a time to catch your breath. Our lives and the world we live in are very busy. This small group is an opportunity to carve out a time in community for peace and reflection during a weeknight; a selah!
The meeting time will be from 7-8:30 pm on Thursday nights in the Fellowship House, starting on September 3-November 19th.
The evening is not a structured one- the only planned portion is having a Bible verse to engage with though “lectio divina” (divine reading). Some of you may already utilize this practice of reading a verse slowly, multiple times, allowing it to speak to you and for the Holy Spirit to enter into the conversation.
After this time, we will transition to a time of independent engagement with the practice of your own choosing. A way that you choose to engage in quiet contemplation may be: praying, journaling, reading, knitting, collage, painting, etc. There will be paper, pencils and other materials available. The belief behind engaging in activities, is that it allows your spirit to ponder God’s message for you as you relax.
This may sound a little different from the usual structure of a small group; this is the intention. How God meets us is often unexpected, but we need to be still to hear His voice.
