Children in Worship
Nursery
Childcare is offered during our 10am worship service in the nursery (located in the Sanctuary building at the end of the right-side hallway). With the help of paid nursery staff and volunteers, the infants and toddlers at ORPC have a safe and loving environment while parents enjoy worship and Sunday school. All nursery workers will have passed a background check, for the safety of your children.
Children's Worship
Children’s worship is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade. Children begin in the Sanctuary-worship service with their families and are then invited to go to children’s worship where they explore their faith with other children and trained adult leaders. Based on Montessori principles, children’s worship invites children to grow in Christian faith through Godly play, interactive stories, and independent wonder. Children’s worship is held in a classroom of the building across the parking lot.
Worship Tables
Children are also always welcome to stay in the Sanctuary service. Inside the Sanctuary, there are tables set on the right hand side for children or families who want to stay together in the Sanctuary worship. At these tables, there are coloring materials, modeling dough, and numerous quiet, fidget toys. You can often find our Children’s Ministry Director here with any number of fidget toys, alongside the kids.
Acolytes
Every Sunday at 10am
Kirk Club members serve as acolytes during worship by bringing in the light of Christ and lighting the worship candle on the chancel. No experience is required and kids will meet Chris in the back of the Sanctuary during the announcements. No dress code either! This is a great opportunity for kids to serve in worship. Consider signing your 3-5th grader up for Acolyting duty here.
